Rick Antonoff

Biography

Rick Antonoff is a partner in the Bankruptcy & Restructuring group of Blank Rome LLP. He represents banks, investment funds, private equity firms, asset managers, landlords, IP licensors, trade creditors, and other parties in bankruptcy proceedings and out-of-court restructuring. He also represents strategic and financial investors acquiring distressed businesses, debtor-in-possession financers, receivers of foreign debtors in cross-border insolvency cases, defendants in preference and fraudulent transfer litigation, and creditors exercising default remedies including UCC and real property foreclosure. Additionally, Rick has significant experience in complex restructuring, intercreditor issues, netting, and setoff.

Rick appears in court proceedings throughout the United States and is frequently invited to speak at legal education seminars and provide commentary for print and broadcast media.

Rick is ranked in Super Lawyers for Business Bankruptcy.

Outside the Firm

Rick recently served as a board member and secretary of New York Junior Tennis & Learning, the largest tennis and education-themed not-for-profit community organization in the United States.

  • Deposit Insurance Agency as Receiver and Foreign Representative of Vneshprombank, in a Chapter 15 case ancillary to Russian insolvency proceeding and litigation to trace bank assets in the United States.
  • Receiver and Foreign Representative of Sergey Poymanov, the former controlling shareholder of Pavlovskgranit, in connection with a Chapter 15 case ancillary to Mr. Poymanov’s Russian insolvency proceeding and litigation of “reiderstvo” claims in the United States.
  • Ad-hoc group of holders restructuring $2.1 billion senior notes issued by affiliates of Odebrecht Oil & Gas secured by vessels, charters, and related contract rights, through bankruptcy proceedings in Brazil and chapter 15 case in the United States.
  • Ad-hoc group of holders restructuring $1.1 billion senior unsecured notes issued by Tidewater Inc., through chapter 11 bankruptcy including securing vessel mortgages and Jones Act compliance.
  • Ad-hoc group of investment funds as “first out” lenders, in $285 million unitranche restructuring and DIP financing facility in the RadioShack Chapter 11 case and related litigation.
  • Member of syndicated lending group restructuring loan to Noble Americas Corporation.
  • Member of syndicated lending group restructuring loan to Icicle Seafoods, Inc.
  • Member of syndicated lending group restructuring loan to Gulfstream Services, Inc.
  • Zohar Funds as involuntary debtors, in chapter 11 case of special purpose structured finance company. 
  • Principals of Seaboard Realty in litigation brought by investor trust established under Chapter 11 plan for Newbury Common Associates.

Professional Activities

Rick is a member of the Bankruptcy and Corporate Reorganization Committee of the New York City Bar Association, the Task Force on Puerto Rico of the New York City Bar Association, the Business Law Section of the American Bar Association, and the American Bankruptcy Institute. He is a trained and certified bankruptcy mediator.

Rick supervises Blank Rome’s pro bono program assisting individuals seeking to discharge student loans in bankruptcy and is a volunteer for Election Protection answering hotline telephone calls from voters during the 2016 election.
