Pro Bono

Seeking Justice for All

Blank Rome is proud of our deep tradition of pro bono service, which traces its roots to one of the firm’s founding partners, Edwin P. Rome.

For more than 75 years, Blank Rome’s core values of respect for the individual, the community, and the law have driven and inspired our leadership in pro bono and community activities. Pro bono service is encouraged and supported across our firm, through training, mentoring, and promoting a culture that recognizes the importance of ensuring that everyone has equal access to legal representation.

In 2022, Blank Rome attorneys and paralegals provided more than 31,000 hours of pro bono service.

Under the leadership of Barry Abrams, partner and chair of Blank Rome’s Pro Bono Committee, and Kathy Ochroch, partner and director of pro bono services, our firm has a formal pro bono policy that requires each of our attorneys and paralegals to undertake at least 25 hours of pro bono service every year. In addition, starting in our 75th year (2021), we set an aspirational goal for each attorney and paralegal to provide at least 75 hours of pro bono service per year. To help our attorneys and paralegals achieve this goal, they receive assistance with identifying pro bono opportunities that will be meaningful to them and appropriate training and resources to support their endeavors.
