Blank Rome LLP is pleased to welcome Jerry A. Katz as senior counsel to the firm’s nationally recognized Real Estate practice. Jerry joins the firm from Glaser Weil Fink Jacobs Howard Avchen & Shapiro, LLP.
Jerry is the latest addition to Blank Rome’s growing Real Estate team, which recently welcomed leading partners Saul Breskal, Christy Reuter, Sonia Kaur Bain, and J.J. Broderick; of counsel Kerri Alessi, Kathryn C. Appling, and Jamie Garelick; and associates Avery Cummings, Matthew Crawford, Kathleen J. Udo, and Kaitlyn West across the firm’s Los Angeles, New York, and Philadelphia offices.
Jerry has more than three decades of experience handling virtually every aspect of real estate-related transactions, including real estate acquisitions and dispositions, development, real estate secured and asset-based financing, loan workouts, tax-deferred exchanges, complex title insurance matters, ground leases, and commercial leasing. Throughout his career, he has represented a wide variety of clients, including publicly traded and privately held companies, institutional investors, developers, lenders, borrowers, joint venture partners, pension funds, REITs, retailers, management companies, private equity firms, media ventures, Internet companies, entertainment companies, studio owners, technology companies, sports franchises, and some of the world’s leading construction, architecture, and consulting firms.
In addition to his private practice experience, Jerry has served as chief operating officer, chief compliance officer, and general counsel of a global investment firm as well as served as a key executive in a technology company. He also has experience as an executive in entertainment businesses.
Admitted to practice in California, Jerry earned his J.D., cum laude, from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law, and his B.S. from University of California at Berkeley. Jerry has also earned the distinguished LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Accredited Professional credential. He serves as a member of the national board of directors of both Camp Kesem and the American Friends of Sheba Medical Center. Additionally, Jerry is a special advisor to the board of directors of The Friendship Foundation.
