Biography

Matthew Homyk serves as strategic trademark counsel to multinational corporations and emerging growth brands, focusing on the commercialization and protection of intangible assets. A partner in Blank Rome’s Intellectual Property (“IP”) group, he focuses on global portfolio architecture, "bet-the-brand" litigation, and complex disputes involving trademarks, copyrights, domain names, and other IP assets.

Industry Leadership & Policy Influence

Matt is at the forefront of shaping trademark policy and practice. He currently serves as Secretary of the U.S. Trademark Office Practice Committee for the Intellectual Property Owners Association (“IPO”), where he drives dialogue between practitioners and the USPTO on critical regulatory updates.

His leadership in the field has earned him widespread recognition, including being named a WTR Global Leader and an International Trademark Association (“INTA”) "Rising Star"—a distinction reserved for individuals demonstrating exceptional commitment to the advancement of the IP profession. He also draws on deep doctrinal knowledge from his time serving as an Adjunct Professor of Trademark Law at Villanova University.

Digital Brand Protection & Technical Strategy

Uniquely, Matt leverages a background in web analytics and SEO to design digital enforcement strategies that dismantle online infringement infrastructure. He advises clients not just on securing rights, but on structuring IP assets to maximize enforceability and withstand due diligence in M&A and private equity transactions.

Pro Bono Leadership

An active member of the INTA Pro Bono Committee, Matt champions access to intellectual property protection. In partnership with INTA and Philadelphia VIP, he leads initiatives to assist underrepresented entrepreneurs and nonprofits with trademark protection.

Outside the Firm

Matt enjoys spending time with his wife, three children, and dog, and relaxing in Coastal Delaware.
