Justin F. Lavella Elected Fellow of the American College of Coverage Counsel

Lavella has been elected to serve as a fellow of the American College of Coverage Counsel (“ACCC”), an invitation-only organization dedicated to improving the quality of the practice of insurance law and to increasing civility and professionalism in the field. With Justin's election, Blank Rome is now home to 11 ACCC fellows, including Mary Craig Calkins, who is a past president of the ACCC, Lisa M. CampisiJohn A. GibbonsJohn E. HeintzRobert P. JacobsLinda KornfeldSeth D. LamdenHelen K. Michael, who is a member of the ACCC’s Board of Regents and Membership Committee, James R. Murray, and Jared Zola.

Established in 2012, the ACCC’s mission is to advance the creative, ethical, and efficient adjudication of insurance coverage and extracontractual disputes; to enhance the civility and quality of the practice of insurance law; to provide peer-reviewed scholarship; and to improve the relationship between and among the members of the insurance law profession. The ACCC is comprised of experienced and recognized lawyers who have devoted most of their practice to insurance disputes for 15 years or more. The national organization engages in a rigorous vetting process prior to inviting a lawyer to become a fellow, with its members including many of the most prominent members of the insurance law bar.

At Blank Rome, Justin represents corporate policyholders, debtors’ and creditors’ committees, professional partnerships, federal employees, and other parties in insurance coverage disputes relating to the full spectrum of insurable losses, including mass tort liabilities, directors’ and officers’ liabilities, professional errors and omissions liabilities, employee theft, product contamination and recall, and first-party property damage. He represents companies in all aspects of risk management and insurance recovery, including litigation, arbitration, mediation, and bankruptcy proceedings, as well as counseling clients regarding prospective insurance placement.
