Blank Rome Welcomes New Tax Counsel in New York

Blank Rome LLP is pleased to announce that experienced tax litigator Joshua M. Sivin has joined the firm’s Tax, Benefits, and Private Client practice group as of counsel in the New York City office.

Josh joins Blank Rome from the New York City Law Department where he served as senior counsel appearing before the New York City Tax Appeals Tribunal for the city and its agencies on a variety of tax matters, including business and excise tax matters as well as real property tax matters, including cases involving New York City’s general corporation tax, unincorporated business tax, commercial rent tax, and real property transfer tax. Josh has experience appearing before tax appeals tribunals and in state and federal trial and appellate courts. He is also well versed in sales tax, fringe benefits, and withholding and reporting requirements. He has also previously served in private practice representing a broad range of clients in commercial disputes, including at a leading Am Law 100 firm.

Admitted to practice in New York, the U.S. District Courts for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York, and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit, Josh earned his J.D. from St. John’s University School of Law and his B.A. in Political Science, Pi Sigma Alpha, from Adelphi University. He is currently earning his Executive LL.M. (Spring 2024) at the New York University School of Law.
