Larger gig companies would likely find such policies beneficial, said Jason Reisman of management-side firm Blank Rome LLP.

Such a law "doesn't upend their model but gives them a balanced hybrid approach, where they could provide benefits of some sort, and they could stop everybody from suing them and challenging the foundation of what their structure is," Reisman said.
