Frederick D. Lipman Presented with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award by Marquis Who’s Who

Lipman has been presented with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award by Marquis Who’s Who, the world’s premier publisher of biographical profiles. With this designation, Fred has been endorsed by Marquis Who’s Who as a leader in the field of corporate law, and recognized for his notable “achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes he has accrued in his field.”

Since 1899, Marquis Who’s Who has chronicled the lives of the most accomplished individuals and innovators from every significant field of endeavor, including politics, business, medicine, law, education, art, religion, and entertainment. Recipients of the Marquis Who’s Who Lifetime Achievement Award have excelled in their field for at least 20 years and are selected based on factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field.

Lifetime Achievement Professional Narrative Excerpt: 

A longtime attorney and partner at Blank Rome LLP, an international law firm, Mr. Lipman is esteemed for his expertise in counseling clients in various corporate and securities matters and family business law and achieved an international reputation in the field of corporate governance. Well-versed in such areas as mergers and acquisitions, corporate governance, bankruptcy and workouts, he has been practicing at the Philadelphia office of the aforementioned firm since 1970. He has also found success with AEL Industries Inc. in Colmar, Pennsylvania as the corporate counsel between 1962 and 1969. Mr. Lipman has been active as a practicing attorney since 1960.

Mr. Lipman dedicated nearly 20 years of his career to the classroom. He notably taught a course in mergers and acquisitions at the Temple University Beasley School of Law between 1989 and 1994. Mr. Lipman provided his wealth of expertise on corporate finance at the University of Pennsylvania Law School from 1991 to 1999 before teaching a private equity course at the Wharton School of Business until 2003.

A prolific writer, Mr. Lipman has authored over 20 books over the past 25 years, beginning with “Going Public” in 1994, ranked as one of the top ten business books in the United States that year by Your Company magazine. Other books to his credit have included “Financing Your Business with Venture Capital” in 1998, “Valuing Your Business” in 2005, “The Family Business Guide in 2010,” “Whistleblowers” in 2012, “Business Exit Strategies: Family-Owned and Other Businesses” in 2018 and “Enhanced Corporate Governance: Avoiding Unpleasant Surprises” in 2019. His 2006 book, “Corporate Governance Best Practices,” has been utilized as a suggested or required read at the college level, both in the U.S. and at several universities abroad, while his book “Executive Compensation Best Practices,” has been remarkably cited by the Securities and Exchange Commission. Mr. Lipman has contributed to close to 60 articles in various legal journals in his area of expertise as well.

Renowned for expertise on business law, Mr. Lipman has made numerous appearances on such prominent media news outlets as CNN, CNBC, and Bloomberg. Moreover, he has been quoted in Forbes, The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, and other noteworthy publications. Mr. Lipman has also lectured widely before institutions and professional law associations throughout New York and Pennsylvania and internationally throughout China, Thailand, India, Great Britain, Australia, Canada, and Switzerland at the United Nations.
