Blank Rome LLP is pleased to announce that our firm has been named as one of the 2023 Best Law Firms for Women and Diversity by Seramount, part of EAB, in recognition of “utilizing best practices in recruiting, retaining, promoting, and developing women lawyers and lawyers from underrepresented groups, including people of color.” This marks the seventh year that Blank Rome has earned this recognition.

"We are honored to be consistently recognized by Seramount for our commitment to implementing progressive diversity and inclusion initiatives, programs, and policies,” said Grant S. Palmer, Blank Rome’s Chair and Managing Partner. "We remain dedicated to our longstanding history of implementing innovative DEI initiatives and professional development opportunities that empower our attorneys.”

Seramount’s 2023 Best Law Firms for Women and Diversity application included more than 300 questions about attorney demographics at different levels, schedule flexibility, paid time off and parental leaves, the development and retention of women and underrepresented groups, the ability to work remotely, mentorship and sponsorship participation, as well as family-friendly benefits. In a formal press statement, Subha V. Barry, president of Seramount, noted that the firms listed are "putting in the work necessary to build firm cultures where employees can thrive."

"I am extremely proud of our firm’s ongoing commitment to advancing women attorneys through firm-wide initiatives like BR Women, BR United, BR Pride, and BR Parents, as well as our signature programs, such as our Women’s Summit and Women's Business Development Academy,” said Deborah A. Skakel, partner and co-chair of BR Women. “We are thrilled to be recognized again by Seramount for our efforts.”

“At Blank Rome, we are passionate about creating and promoting an inclusive culture and are excited to receive this honor,” said Cheryl S. Chang, partner and co-chair of BR United. “Through BR United—our firm’s multicultural affinity group—and our sub-groups (BR Asian, BR Black, BR Latinx, and BR MENA)—we continue to advance our DEI goals through attracting talent, offering professional and leadership development training and programs, and hosting a variety of events for our colleagues and clients.”

Blank Rome participates in various programs and partnerships aimed at advancing women and underrepresented groups throughout the legal industry at large. Notably, our firm is an active participant in Diversity Lab’s industry-leading DEI initiatives, including the Mansfield Rule program, which measures whether law firms have affirmatively considered at least 30 percent underrepresented lawyers when electing leadership positions, hiring senior lateral associates and partners, promoting into the equity partnership, staffing client pitch teams, and nominating to Chambers USA. Our firm achieved Mansfield Certification status for the fifth year in a row after successfully completing Diversity Lab’s yearlong Mansfield Rule 5.0 program at the end of 2022.
