Blank Rome LLP is pleased to announce that partner Michael A. Scheffler was presented with the firm’s annual Edwin P. Rome Pro Bono Achievement Award in recognition of his personal commitment to, and leadership in, pro bono work on behalf of asylum seekers.
Named in honor of one of Blank Rome’s founding partners, the Edwin P. Rome Pro Bono Achievement Award was created in 2004 to recognize outstanding performance and a demonstrated commitment to pro bono legal service each year.
Michael is a dedicated pro bono volunteer. Notably, Michael represented a client forced to flee his home country due to his political activities against the ruling party. Because of Michael’s work, the client was granted asylum in the United States, affording him the safety and security of remaining here. Michael continues to work to reunite the client with his wife and son.
