Timothy J. Miller

Biography

Timothy (“Timmy”) Miller is a litigation associate and concentrates their practice on trade secrets, intellectual property, and competitive hiring. 

Timmy is regularly involved in complex lawsuits involving theft of trade secrets and confidential information, unfair competition, tortious interference with business and contracts, breaches of fiduciary duties, and violations of noncompetition and nonsolicitation agreements. They have assisted clients ranging from large international companies to individuals and local startups.

Timmy takes a modern approach to litigation by leveraging the capabilities of technology, data, and forensics to help clients build their case. They have worked closely with technical experts to conduct pre-litigation investigations, collect and analyze electronically stored information and metadata, and protect proprietary information through forensic remediation.

Timmy also serves as a member of the firm’s appellate litigation practice, assisting clients with appeals in both federal and state courts.

Prior to Blank Rome: Timmy developed their legal skills at Temple University Beasley School of Law, where Timmy was an involved student leader and advocate. Timmy held numerous leadership roles in student government, competed on the National Trial Team, and was recognized by the faculty at graduation for making “the most outstanding contributions to the law school community.” Timmy also served as a judicial intern for the Honorable Richard A. Lloret at the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, a legal intern at GlaxoSmithKline, Inc., and as assistant executive director at JURIST Legal News and Research, Inc.

Outside the Firm

Timmy enjoys reading great books, playing the violin, and traveling the world. They live with their partner, Dan, and their two cats, Gus and Toby, who they rescued with a Blank Rome co-worker while they were a summer associate.

Professional Activities

In addition to their practice, Timmy is a member of the firm’s Philadelphia Pro Bono Committee. Timmy’s pro bono practice includes assisting senior citizens with preparing wills and other end-of-life documents, as well as counseling LGBT+ clients on name changes and gender-marker corrections.

Timmy is also a dedicated alumnus and an adjunct professor for the Temple University Beasley School. Timmy continues to give back as a teacher and mentor for students on the National Trial Team, including coaching the champions of the 2024 Capitol City Challenge and 2024 Premiere Mock Trial Competition.
