Biography
Marquel Jordan is an experienced litigation and trial attorney. She practices in the area of civil litigation, with primary emphasis on tort and products liability litigation. Marquel represents major corporations in all aspects of civil litigation and tort cases, as well as toxic tort, fraud, wrongful death, and negligence cases. Marquel also represents clients in commercial litigation matters. She has extensive experience in all aspects of Texas pre-trial and trial practice, and has litigated and tried cases throughout Texas, as well as in Louisiana, Mississippi, West Virginia, and other states, in federal and state courts, as well as handling multi-district and class action lawsuits.
Marquel is a Clarence Darrow Scholar.
Outside the Firm
When she is not representing clients, Marquel handles pro bono matters involving minors, and family law issues. She also owns and is involved in a Houston-based gymnastics facility that offers training, classes, and a competitive gymnastics teams experience.
Experience
- Defense trial team member in benzene-acute myelogenous leukemia wrongful death suit that resulted in defense jury verdict.
- Appellate team member in mandamus resulting in three discovery mandamus orders in wrongful death suit immediately prior to trial.
- Representation of major petrochemical companies in chemical exposure and toxic tort cases.
- Negotiated favorable settlements on behalf of chemical distributors in various cases based on Innocent Retailer Statute.
- Defense team member that obtained successful interlocutory appeal of improper venue determination on behalf of paint manufacturer.
- Representation of minority shareholder in federal and state court cases involving claimed shareholder oppression, fraud, negligence, and breach of fiduciary duty in operation of a closely-held corporation, which resulted in favorable settlement.
