Mike Margolis and Laura Reathaford Nominated as Finalists for Los Angeles Business Journal’s Leaders in Law Awards
Blank Rome Partners Mike Margolis and Laura Reathaford were selected as finalists for Los Angeles Business Journal’s 2018 Leaders in Law Awards, honoring each for their “exceptional legal skills and achievements, exemplary leadership, and contributions to the Los Angeles community.” The awards ceremony was held October 17, 2018, at the Omni Los Angeles Hotel at California Plaza.
Mike Margolis leads Blank Rome’s Asia Practice, where he advises Chinese companies and business owners about how to use law and strategy to succeed in the United States. His opinions about cross-border issues have been featured on National Public Radio and in the Wall Street Journal, London Financial Times, the Los Angeles Times, China Daily, and the South China Morning Post (Hong Kong). Mike serves on the executive committee of the Asia Society of Southern California and on the board of the Hong Kong Association of Southern California.
Laura Reathaford is a partner in the Labor & Employment group. She focuses her practice on management-side employment litigation, with an emphasis on wage and hour collective and class actions, including representative actions under the Private Attorney General Act (“PAGA”). Most recently, Laura appeared on behalf of the Association of Southern California Defense Counsel in Clarke v. First Transit, Inc. as amicus curiae where she advocated for the appropriate standard of review for PAGA settlements. Laura also represents the management of public and private businesses in the banking, healthcare, manufacturing, retail, and grocery industries, both in California and nationwide. Laura has appeared on the cover of Los Angeles Lawyer magazine for her thought leadership on PAGA litigation, has been recognized as one of the Top 100 Women Lawyers in California, and was most recently ranked by Benchmark Litigation as a “Labor & Employment Star” for the West Coast of the United States.
