Heather Sonnenberg Named 2023 Top Woman in Asset-Based Lending by ABF Journal

Blank Rome LLP is pleased to announce that partner Heather Sonnenberg, who serves as co-chair of the Finance, Restructuring, and Bankruptcy practice group, has been named a 2023 Top Woman in Asset-Based Lending by ABF Journal.

Now in its third edition, Heather is one of nearly 50 women recognized as "the most prominent women from across the industry." All of the honorees are profiled in the ABF Journal's 2023 Top Women in ABL + Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Issue.

In receiving this honor, Heather joins Regina Stango Kelbon, partner and co-chair of the Philadelphia office, who was named a 2021 Top Women in Asset-Based Lending.

Heather Sonnenberg, a partner with Blank Rome and the co-chair of its finance, restructuring and bankruptcy practice group, is a highly-regarded attorney who has built a significant presence within the commercial finance industry. Sonnenberg puts a particular focus on asset-based and cash flow financing for various industry sectors.

Sonnenberg has led multiple high-profile matters for Blank Rome in the last year. Most notably, she represented a national bank, as agent, in connection with several transactions, including a $370 million senior secured unitranche facility to a provider of pavement making services, a $250 million ABL revolving credit facility to an asphalt supplier and a $285 million syndicated credit facility for a manufacturer of licensed pop culture collectible items, among others. Sonnenberg also led a Blank Rome team in representing an independent commercial finance company in several matters, including its provision to an independent supplier of aircraft technology, and served as counsel in a $21.5 million revolving credit facility for the exit financing and 363 sale under Chapter 11 of a provider of catalog and brochure printing, mailing and logistics services.

In her two decades with Blank Rome, Sonnenberg has continually honed her skills as a leader while dedicating a substantial amount of time assisting young attorneys in developing their careers. She has served as an official firm mentor and preceptor for many associates. She also leads her practice group’s formal training program for all attorneys and is a frequent panelist for CLE and other educational programs. In the past, she has participated in the firm’s annual Trial Academy, which offers associates practice with jury trials. Based solely on the sheer amount of time and energy Sonnenberg devotes to helping other attorneys grow, her value to Blank Rome is incalculable.
