The 2019 Yale Law Women Top Ten Firms Report monitors trends in gender equity and family friendliness among law firms ranked in the 2019 Vault Law 100, raising awareness of disparities within the legal profession, highlighting progress being made in the industry, and identifying areas for improvement. This annual report also serves as a resource to help attorneys make informed decisions about the law firms they hope to join and the types of policies to look for in their search. Of notable significance this year, the report took a more intersectional approach by incorporating National Association for Law Placement data about attorneys who identify as women of color and/or LGBTQ+.
Blank Rome is committed to advancing diversity and inclusion initiatives within the Firm and throughout the legal industry. Over the past year, the Firm has been recognized for its leadership in this space through hosting its second annual Women’s Leadership Summit in October 2018, as well as receiving for the fourth year in a row the honor of being named a “Best Place to Work for LGBTQ Equality” by the Human Rights Campaign in its 2019 Corporate Equality Index. The Firm also achieved Mansfield Certification after successfully completing Diversity Lab’s inaugural one-year Mansfield Rule pilot program, which asks firms to consider at least 30 percent women and attorneys of color for leadership and governance roles, equity partner promotions, and senior lateral positions, to boost the representation of diverse lawyers in law firm leadership, and has since continued its partnership with Diversity Lab to pilot Mansfield Rule 2.0.
