Joan M. Bondareff, Of Counsel in Blank Rome's maritime group, will be speaking at Law Seminar's International Offshore Energy Development Conference, held March 3-4, 2011, at the Seaport Boston Hotel in Boston, MA.

Ms. Bondareff's panel discussion—Zoning the Oceans: Allocating Spots for Different Uses—will be held at 1:15 p.m. on March 3, 2011.  The panel will discuss the Obama Administration's new National Ocean Policy, including the new Ocean Policy Council, Coastal and Marine Spatial Planning, and implications for future ocean development.  Ms. Bondareff will specifically cover state-level planning and review a case study of Rhode Island's Marine Spatial Planning Initiative as a collaborative process for allocating space for fishing, offshore wind, LNG, communications cables, and shipping.  She will be joined by two other panelists: Mr. John M. Boehnert, Esq., the Law Offices of John M. Boehnert; and Deerin Babb-Brott, Assistant Secretary of Massachusetts Executive Office of Energy and Environmental Affairs.

This conference will examine the current state of permitting requirements, interagency cooperation, national leadership and its impact on offshore renewable energy development as well as the relationships between off-shore wind and other seabed users.  Featured topics will include:
