Blank Rome LLP is pleased to co-host the 2021 Villanova Environmental Law Journal Blank Rome LLP Symposium, which will feature experts from government, the community, and academia who will share their insights on the environmental law and environmental justice issues involving the South Philadelphia Refinery in a series of prerecorded and live sessions on February 5, 12, and 19, 2021.

Blank Rome partners Sophia Lee and Margaret Anne Hill will speak on the session, “Introduction to Approaching a Complex Contaminated Site for Cleanup and Redevelopment—The Legal and Business Perspective,” on Friday, February 5, 2021.

About this Event

The South Philadelphia refinery has played an important role in the Philadelphia region for nearly 150 years. The refinery site is now in the process of being remediated and redeveloped, a process that involves numerous government entities and private parties addressing financial, legal, and public health issues. 

The event will feature speakers from Blank Rome LLP; the Kleinman Center for Energy Policy, University of Pennsylvania; Green Ladder Environmental LLC; Bryan Cave Leighton Paisner LLP; Hilco Redevelopment Partners; the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency; the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection; Philly Thrive; the Center of Excellence in Environmental Toxicology, Center for Public Health Initiatives, University of Pennsylvania; and the City of Philadelphia Law Department.
