Inspirational Parenting Tips for Attorneys and Legal Professionals
Parenting is one of the most rewarding experiences of our lives. And one of the most challenging! Lawyers and legal professionals who are parents face extra challenges in a highly demanding profession.
In this webinar hosted by Blank Rome’s Parents Forum, Forum chairs Ariel S. Glasner and Lauren B. Wilgus talked with Diversity Crew’s Erin Eisner about challenges working parents face in law firms and in-house legal departments, and discussed how to navigate and pursue professional success while raising children.
During the webinar, Erin shared her inspirational story of holding various key positions as in-house counsel and a C-suite executive while raising children. She shared strategies for defining and achieving success as a parent and as a legal professional, including seeking work-life “equity” rather than work-life “balance,” accepting that progress is not linear, and that some days involve “managed chaos.” Erin described how she advises her clients to succeed in their roles as parents and professionals by:
- Determining a personal “Why” to power through hard times for long term success.
- Identifying tradeoffs to counter the myth of work-life balance.
- Level-set expectations, draw boundaries, and balance obligations.
