Daniel L. Jones Jr.


Daniel “Casey” Jones is a trial attorney who focuses his practice on litigating complex matters, including transportation, asbestos litigation, products liability, mass torts, and toxic torts. He serves as national counsel for the former Penn Central Railroad, defending the company against occupational exposure and repetitive stress cases brought under the Federal Employers’ Liability Act (“FELA”), and in that role, serves as First Chair at all trials brought against the client. Casey is also National Counsel for American Premier Underwriters handling asbestos claims brought against the company.

Casey has a broad range of litigation experience, having represented clients as national and regional counsel in FELA, asbestos, diacetyl/butter flavoring, tobacco, and Phentermine litigation. He has defended claims in over 20 different state and federal courts involving a wide variety of injuries, as well as claims seeking compensatory and punitive damages.


  • Obtained defense verdict in FELA trial held in Philadelphia in September 2019.
  • Obtained defense verdict in FELA trial held in Philadelphia in March 2017.
  • Tried FELA case in Cleveland in February 2016, in which jury determined client only five percent responsible for plaintiff’s injury.
  • Tried eight FELA cases in Philadelphia and Pittsburgh that settled prior to verdict.
  • Extensive experience negotiating resolution of pending claims.
  • Represented the National Counsel for American Premier Underwriters in claims brought against the company alleging exposure to toxic substances in various states all throughout the country.
  • Represented a flavor manufacturer against claims alleging lung disease, and, in that role, has tried multiple cases in various states.

Professional Activities

Casey is a member of the Defense Research Institute and the National Association of Railroad Trial Attorneys. He is also a legal adviser for Big Stef, Inc., a nonprofit organization based in Northern Kentucky that raises funds to help the less fortunate.
