ABOUT THE PROGRAM
While occupancy fell to historic lows in 2020, building energy use only dropped 10 to 20 percent. The explanation for this discrepancy lies in lease terms that lock in inefficient procedures and impede efforts to reduce carbon emissions. High performance leases are a solution for driving sustained decarbonization in commercial office spaces: they equitably align costs and benefits of energy savings between landlords and tenants, and can position the real estate industry to comply with emerging local and state carbon regulations applicable to the built environment.
During this event, speakers will walk through a model high performance lease and the provisions that differentiate it from a conventional lease and participants will hear from industry experts who are implementing energy-aligned provisions in practice.
