Blank Rome Partner Nicholas C. Harbist will speak at the American Bar Association (“ABA”) Criminal Justice Section’s Eighth Annual London White Collar Crime Institute, being held October 14 and 15, 2019, in London, United Kingdom.

Nicholas’ panel, “Hypothetical I - White Collar Crime Hypothetical Exercise Part 1 (Investigations),” will take place on Tuesday, October 15, from 9:45 to 11:00 a.m. It will be moderated by Trevor Wiles, Partner at Forensics Risk Alliance, and will present the following hypothetical scenario:

The Government of Country X and the World Bank have signed a loan agreement to support Country X’s Road Sector Project. A contract worth $100 million was subsequently awarded to a company owned by a US citizen. Allegations of bid rigging, inflated invoices, kickbacks, and money laundering using cryptocurrencies are received. Investigations are commenced by the World Bank, the DOJ, and FINCEN.

Panelists will discuss the investigations and the implications for the various parties involved.

The conference will feature leading legal practitioners from across the globe and will cover such topics as international money laundering and sanctions, cross-border evidentiary concerns, and international internal investigations, fraud and bribery cases.
