What is one thing law firms can do immediately to help improve diversity and inclusion within their organizations? One thing law firms can do immediately is assess their culture to better understand the maturity of their DEI program. This can be achieved through various methods/tactics including firmwide/pulse surveys, focus groups, listening sessions, 1:1 meetings, and event discussions.
What’s one piece of advice you would give that you wish you had been given starting out? I would give the same advice that was given to me before I started in my new role at Blank Rome as the first full-time DEI leader, “Diversity, equity and inclusion work is a slow burn and long-term play, which requires patience, strategic focus, a solid foundation, the proper infrastructure and leadership buy-in to be successful.”
