Blank Rome Partner Keith B. Letourneau, who serves as co-chair of the Firm’s Maritime and International Trade practice group, will present at the North American Marine Environment Protection Association’s (“NAMEPA”) “Safety at Sea” National Maritime Day Seminar on the topic of “Risks in Today’s Maritime Arena,” on Thursday, May 21, 2020.
This all-day seminar, which will be held virtually this year as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, will honor the role that the maritime industry plays both economically and globally by bringing together industry and government leaders to discuss concerns and implementation strategies regarding safety at sea in this rapidly changing shipping environment. Key topics include:
- What are shipping’s vulnerabilities today?
- What are the challenges facing shipowners?
- How can companies mitigate risk in shipping today?
- What do companies need to do to accommodate remote working?
- Why is piracy on the upswing in 2020?
- What are the needs of the mariner in today’s world?
The seminar will be followed by the United States Coast Guard’s 2020 AMVER Awards and William M. Benkert Award for Environmental Excellence Presentation.
