Blank Rome Managing Partner and CEO Grant S. Palmer and Partner and Director of Pro Bono Services Kathy E. Ochroch will serve as panelists at B. PHL Innovation Fest 2021, being held September 29 through October 1, 2021, virtually and at Location 215 at 990 Spring Garden Street in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

B. PHL Fest is an annual three-day innovation celebration started in 2019 to highlight Philadelphia as a fantastic place to live and work; to create meaningful connections locally and globally between people and organizations doing innovative work; and ignite new ideas and inspire changemakers of the future.

This year’s program will focus on unity and collaboration, awakening the innovative spirit in all of us, and encouraging attendees and participants to learn, listen, connect, and discover new ways to think, re-think, create, and activate change. A series of events, workshops, concerts, and interactive experiences provides opportunities to hear from and meet with a diverse array of leaders, influencers, and changemakers in entertainment, science, engineering, non-profits, and more.

SESSION INFORMATION

Pennsylvania is home to the fifth-largest population of older Americans in the country. COVID-19 disproportionately impacted this demographic, especially among seniors of color. Many seniors in the city of Philadelphia were already living in crisis, with a host of legal issues to face, including housing, eviction, increased poverty and an increase in the number of grandparents who are raising their grandchildren.

Legal advocacy for this vulnerable community has been more vital than ever during the pandemic. In this engaging and interactive panel, pro bono legal partners from Blank Rome, the SeniorLAW Center, and PECO will come together to share how this partnership was able to assist one of Philadelphia’s most vulnerable populations in 2020. This partnership has allowed older individuals in Philadelphia to access the legal advocacy they deserve, ultimately improving their lives.
