Court-Appointed Neutrals: A Practical Discussion with One of the Best

Austin Bar Association Alternative Dispute Resolution Section

Online Event

Blank Rome partner Deborah Greenspan will be the featured speaker for “Court-Appointed Neutrals: A Practical Discussion with One of the Best,” a presentation by Austin Bar Association’s Alternative Dispute Resolution Section taking place Tuesday, April 18, 2023, as a live online event.

ABOUT THE PROGRAM

Deborah Greenspan, co-chair of Blank Rome’s Energy, Environment, And Mass Torts practice group, will provide background on court-appointed neutrals. Deborah is on the Board of the Academy of Court-Appointed Neutrals and will describe the relationship between the neutral, attorneys, the court, and parties, including ethical issues that frequently arise. She will discuss the role a neutral can play in resolving complex, high-profile situations involving mass claims. Deborah will provide insights on her personal experiences as the Deputy Special Master for the September 11th Victim Compensation Fund (and tell us whether the Michael Keeton movie Worth was accurate) as well as her experience as the special master for the Flint Water cases. She hopes to lead a lively discussion of the legal, ethical, practical, and moral issues that often arise in handling mass claims.
