Timothy J. Miller

Timothy (“Timmy”) Miller is a litigation and appellate associate. Timmy concentrates their litigation practice on complex business disputes, trade secrets, intellectual property, and competitive hiring. Timmy is also a member of the firm’s Healthcare & Life Sciences team, assisting clients including pharmaceutical and medical technology companies, manufacturers of medical devices and products, and healthcare providers.

Litigation Practice

Timmy assists clients ranging from large international companies to local startups and individuals. They are regularly involved in complex business litigation, including cases involving theft of trade secrets and confidential information, unfair competition, tortious interference with business, breaches of fiduciary duties and contracts, and violations of noncompetition and nonsolicitation agreements.

Timmy takes a modern approach to litigation by leveraging the capabilities of technology, data, and forensics to help clients build their case. They have worked closely with technical experts to conduct pre-litigation investigations, collect and analyze electronically stored information and metadata, and protect proprietary information through forensic remediation.

Appellate Practice

Timmy also serves as a member of the firm’s appellate litigation practice, assisting clients in filing or opposing appeals in both federal and state courts. In addition to participating directly in appeals, Timmy also assists clients by monitoring ongoing appeals, advising on the latest legal developments as court opinions are released, and filing amicus briefs.

Healthcare & Life Sciences Experience

Timmy has a wide range of experience assisting clients in both the healthcare and life sciences industries. Before joining the firm, Timmy worked at GlaxoSmithKline as a legal intern for in-house counsel across the company’s U.S. operations. While Timmy gained substantial firsthand experience in the complex pharmaceutical industry, they also developed their skills to provide practical and business-oriented advice directly to stakeholders and clients.

Timmy continues to use that foundational experience in their current practice to assist clients such as large pharmaceutical and medical technology companies, manufacturers of medical devices and products, and healthcare providers and hospital systems. Since joining Blank Rome, Timmy’s experience has included:

• Facilitating pre-litigation investigations and forensic examinations to address information and data theft
• Filing litigation and securing preliminary injunctions to enforce restrictive covenants and maintain the company’s competitive position
• Conducting internal investigations and audits in connection with Medicare and Medicaid claims, as well as employment-related disputes
• Representing clients in, or monitoring, complex multidistrict litigation and appeals, including cases involving massive breaches of personal health information and personal injury claims for drug products subject to the FDCA
• Prosecuting and defending lawsuits involving intellectual property, including complex disputes involving trade secrets, patents, and trademarks

Timmy considers their wide range of experience, in terms of both the clients they serve and the work that they do, to be an asset to their practice. They are able to proactively identify and address a wide range of issues, and work collaboratively with the Blank Rome team and clients to come up with cost-effective and solution-driven strategies.

Prior to Blank Rome

Timmy developed their legal skills at Temple University Beasley School of Law, where Timmy was an involved student leader and advocate. Timmy held numerous leadership roles in student government, competed on the National Trial Team, and was recognized by the faculty at graduation for making “the most outstanding contributions to the law school community.” Timmy also served as a judicial intern for the Honorable Richard A. Lloret at the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania and as assistant executive director at JURIST Legal News and Research, Inc.
