Megan A. Altobelli

Biography

Megan A. Altobelli is an experienced litigator with a focus on complex commercial litigation. Megan’s practice spans breach of contract, fraud, trade secret misappropriation, product liability, and employment-related claims, including non-compete and non-solicitation matters.

Known for her strategic thinking and courtroom presence, Megan has secured victories as both lead and second-chair counsel in arbitrations and trials.

Megan represents a diverse range of clients, including financial institutions, hedge funds, oil and gas operators, real estate developers, and Fortune 50 companies, in high-stakes disputes across state and federal courts, bankruptcy courts, and arbitration forums.

Before joining the firm, Megan practiced at a litigation firm, as well as several prominent Dallas-based boutique law firms. While in law school, Megan served as a law clerk at a Dallas-based litigation firm and for the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals. She also served as the senior editor for the UNT Law Review.

Experience

  • Lead associate in prosecution of claims for major mortgage lender involving the coordinated departure of 100 employees; secured eight-figure arbitration award.
  • First-chair counsel in AAA arbitration for IT application provider; obtained full damages, expenses, and more than $95,000 in attorneys’ fees.
  • Secured defensive summary judgement in favor of bank on claims of fraud and deceptive trade practices arising from payment and deposit card relationship.
  • Represented former employee in Rule 202 Petition for pre-suit discovering involving theft of trade secrets, securing a dismissal of the action.
  • Represented oil and gas acquisition company in obtaining summary judgement on both liability and damages concerning the interpretation of a Purchase and Sale Agreement.
  • Represented private equity fund in obtaining summary judgement of client’s affirmative claims for breach of contract and fraud. In addition, obtained summary judgment on defendant’s counterclaims for fraud and tortious interference in a case involving forgery and the alteration of a Mineral Estate Purchase Agreement.
  • Represented hedge fund before the AAA, obtaining a more than $800,000 judgement involving breach of promissory notes.
  • Defended national hotel chain, obtaining a favorable arbitration award equating to approximately one percent of the plaintiff’s final demand.
  • Defended restaurant in a negligence action involving assault obtaining summary judgement within two months of the case being filed.
  • Defended international car dealership obtaining summary judgement and dismissal of all claims.
  • Defended international oil and gas pipe distributor in a multi-million-dollar product liability case, securing a favorable settlement on the eve of trial.
