Biography
Matt Crawford concentrates his practice in the retail, hospitality, and commercial real estate sectors, with a particular focus on commercial leasing, representing both landlords and tenants of medium- to large-scale retail (including full-service membership-based fitness, health & wellness centers, dry goods and upscale brick-and-mortar shopping experiences, and medical office and urgent care clinic uses), restaurant, office, mixed-use and other types of commercial developments (including new construction, redevelopment or repositioning, as well as second-generation and older commercial real estate holdings).
Matt also has a wealth of experience advising all types of clients on the structuring and negotiation of their various other real estate needs including sale, acquisition, and financing transactions, and seeing those matters through from reviewing and negotiating term sheets, to contract, and to closing, all of which includes title analysis and the efficient resolution of other due diligence and title legal issues. Matt is well-versed on condominium and cooperative ownership structures in New York, New Jersey, Florida, and Connecticut, particularly with respect to his leasing practice, and he also skillfully advises clients on reciprocal easement agreements commonly utilized by shopping centers and other types of mixed-use developments.
Outside the Firm
Matt resides in Weston, Connecticut, where he is a dedicated husband and proud parent of a daughter in kindergarten and a son in preschool . Matt has become a true “hockey dad,” with his daughter having found hockey at a young age as her true passion in life, and his son eager to follow in his sister’s footsteps. In Matt’s spare time, he golfs, kayaks, and hikes, and he also enjoys concerts, standup comedy, and playing softball (including on Blank Rome’s NYC team). He is a passionate fan of the Mets, Jets, Knicks, and Villanova basketball.

Active in his community, Matt is involved in numerous bar associations, and is a member of the Young Professionals of Greenwich and a former elected member of the Greenwich Representative Town Meeting, as well as being active in other local governmental bodies. He ?has also served and continues to serve as treasurer for various local political candidates. Matt is the Advocate of the Greenwich Knights of Columbus council, providing pro bono legal services to his local Knights council (as well as volunteering for community service events), and has also volunteered for and supports the Boys and Girls Club of Greenwich.
