Biography
Emily S. Childress concentrates her practice on energy and utility matters.
Emily has extensive experience representing clients before state public utility regulatory agencies in:
- Utility rate case proceedings
- Applications for certificates of public convenience and necessity to construct utility infrastructure
- Applications for approval of financing requests and regulatory accounting treatment
- Investigations regarding compliance with state statutes and regulations
- Utility tariff filings
Emily participates in eminent domain litigation on behalf of public utility clients to obtain utility easement rights. She also drafts pleadings, briefs, discovery requests and responses, petitions under the Kentucky Open Records Act, and confidentiality agreements.
Prior to joining the firm, Emily served as an associate attorney at a Kentucky-based firm and a law clerk at an insurance litigation firm.
During law school, Emily served as a legal extern for a Cincinnati-based non-profit and a judicial extern to the Honorable Candace J. Smith at the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Kentucky. She was also the blog chair and an executive board member of the University of Cincinnati Law Review.
Practicing under the supervision of principals of the firm admitted in DC. Admitted to practice in Kentucky only.
