John Adkins is a business lawyer who practices primarily in the areas of corporate, finance, real estate, and general business transactions.
John works with public and private companies and individuals on corporate and securities matters as well as those involving real estate, insurance, and administrative law. He represents businesses in the banking, real estate, construction materials, energy, technology, and food products industries, among others. He often works with entrepreneurs and established businesses on mergers and acquisitions, financing transactions, contracts, and corporate governance.
John previously served as senior vice president/general counsel of a Houston-based bank, a senior officer of a public company providing diversified financial services throughout the United States, and in private practice in Texas. While in law school, he was the managing editor of the Texas Law Review.
Outside the Firm
John is a long-time volunteer with the University of Texas at Austin alumni association, including service as the national president in 2005–2006. He currently is a member of the UT Development Board as well as several UT advisory boards, including the Plan II Honors Program, in which he majored for his bachelor of arts. John previously served as chairman of a state agency, the Texas Hospital Equipment Financing Agency.
