Blank Rome Welcomes New Trusts & Estates Of Counsel Andrew Nerney in New York

Blank Rome LLP is pleased to announce that Andrew M. Nerney has joined the firm’s New York office as of counsel in the Tax, Benefits, and Private Clients practice group. Andrew joins Blank Rome from Day Pitney LLP.

Andrew concentrates his practice on providing sophisticated counsel to high-net-worth individuals and families, including same-sex married and unmarried couples, to create tax-efficient wealth transfer strategies through estate, tax, business succession, and asset protection planning.

He has notable experience counseling clients on exemption capture planning, drafting estate planning documents, assisting with the preparation of gift tax, estate tax, and fiduciary income tax returns, assisting individuals with the establishment and maintenance of tax-exempt organizations, foundations, and trusts, as well as conducting extensive research on income, estate, generation-skipping transfer, and capital gains taxation.

Andrew is also experienced at assisting fiduciaries and beneficiaries with estate and trust administration matters. He regularly represents fiduciaries before the probate and surrogate’s courts in estate administration proceedings. In addition, Andrew is experienced in aiding in the reformation and decanting of existing trusts to improve their income and estate tax efficiency and utility. Andrew also advises individuals interested in planning for charitable giving and changing domicile for tax purposes.

Admitted to practice in New York, Connecticut, and Florida, Andrew received his LL.M from Georgetown University Law Center, his J.D., cum laude, from Quinnipiac University School of Law, and his B.A., cum laude, from the University of South Florida. Andrew has been recognized by top publications for his work, including Super Lawyers and Best Lawyers in America. Andrew also maintains an active pro bono practice, most recently serving as a pro bono attorney at Legal Aid Service of Broward County and Dade Legal Aid.
