  • Lead coverage counsel for a commercial provider of high altitude, near space platforms and flight test services in litigation commenced by the company’s long-time insurer to avoid coverage for an accident during the testing of a parachute recovery system for a reusable space capsule.
  • Co-defense and insurance counsel to a leading logistics company as defendant in litigation alleging violations of the Anti-Terrorism Act in Afghanistan.
  • Major defense contractor in a coverage dispute involving Defense Base Act insurance and disability claims asserted by civilian employees working on U.S. military bases overseas.
  • Represented one of the world’s largest systems integrators in connection with its insurance coverage matters, including securing insurance coverage for losses stemming from FCA and Anti-Kickback Act litigation related to technology alliances—part of a series of cases involving the largest procurement-related FCA litigation in the last several years.
  • Represented a major U.S. shipbuilder in insurance coverage action against the London Market in connection with claims alleging asbestos bodily injury.
  • Represented a major U.S. shipbuilder seeking coverage for “take home” exposure asbestos claims. Case settled prior to the close of discovery and the filing of summary judgment briefs.
  • Represented a technology provider in three media liability insurance recovery litigations in three jurisdictions nationwide, which all reached confidential resolution.
  • Represented a defense contractor in recovering insurance for claims arising from employees’ conduct at Iraq’s Abu Ghraib prison.
  • Represented a defense contractor for insurance coverage for $390 million in property damage and business interruption losses caused by Hurricane Katrina.
  • Represented a defense contractor in a lawsuit against a national insurance broker for its alleged breaches and misrepresentations in procuring property insurance policies covering losses from Gulf State hurricanes, including storm surge losses.
  • Represented one of the nation’s largest global logistics and transportation government contractors in all insurance-related regulatory and policy placement matters, and for all insurance litigation.
  • Represented a multinational aerospace company in bench trial regarding allocation, characterization of consultants’ fees as defense costs, prejudgment interest, and attorneys’ fees issues arising out of the jury verdicts in an underlying matter. Case was resolved before the Ninth Circuit mediator pending the appeal of the judge’s bench rulings.
  • Represented a multinational aerospace company when London Market underwriters split with London Market companies and sued the client for liabilities relating to the client’s plant. The case settled after a year-long litigation.
  • Represented a multinational aerospace company in a jury trial against insurance carrier regarding insurance coverage for environmental cleanup liabilities at the Western Processing and Queen City Farms Superfund Sites in Washington state. This was only the second environmental case to go to a jury at the time and was the first such case that had favorable policyholder verdicts. Underlying liabilities exceeded $100 million.
  • Represented one of the world’s most successful IT joint ventures formed by two Fortune 500 companies to secure coverage for losses arising from FCA litigation in Washington state.
  • Represented an American private military company that provides contract security services to the U.S. government in an employment practices liability insurance matter concerning coverage for claims asserted by independent contractors.
  • Represented a military tactical body armor and gear manufacturer, and one of its executive officers, in a coverage lawsuit where we successfully recovered insurance proceeds from a kidnap, ransom, and extortion insurance policy.
  • Successfully recovered insurance proceeds for a private equity firm’s portfolio company arising from an FCA lawsuit and preceding government investigations concerning alleged violations tied involving Medicare, Medicaid, and other relevant federal programs.
  • Represented a multinational aerospace company in an arbitration against its historical workers’ compensation insurer.
  • Performed comprehensive cyber insurance reviews for major defense contractors, including one of the first cyber wrap policies ever sold.
  • Represented prominent government contractors in insurance recovery for defense costs for responding to government proceedings and investigations.
