Margaret M. Murphy

Biography

Margaret Murphy focuses her practice on investment management matters. She counsels registered investment companies, business development companies and their independent directors, and investment advisers on a wide variety of regulatory, compliance, and corporate matters, including:

  • Registration, regulation, and corporate governance of investment companies, including open-end funds, closed-end funds, exchange traded funds, and business development companies and their independent directors, as well as investment advisers
  • Best practices and duties of independent directors/trustees of investment companies and business development companies
  • Preparation of SEC filings, exemptive applications, and examination responses

Margaret assists in the preparation of the quarterly issuance of Blank Rome’s Fund and Investment Management Regulatory Update and Recent SEC Actions publication.

Margaret has represented public and private corporations in merger and acquisition transactions, including mergers, asset sales, business divestitures, corporate restructurings, tender offers, proxy contests, and consent solicitations. She has also counseled financial advisers in merger and acquisition transactions as well as underwriters and issuers in public and private offerings of equity and debt.

During law school, Margaret served as a judicial intern to the Honorable Henry B. Pitman, United States Magistrate Judge of the Southern District of New York.
