Introduction and Current Trends
Trade enforcement and sanctions compliance have emerged as top priorities for federal agencies over the first year of the Trump administration. As part of this renewed focus, the Trump administration has worked to coordinate investigations across multiple federal agencies, and in August 2025 announced the creation of the Trade Fraud Task Force to formalize cooperation between the Department of Justice’s Civil and Criminal Divisions, Customs and Border Protection, and Homeland Security Investigations within the Department of Homeland Security. The increased scrutiny has resulted in numerous trade-related enforcement actions, with the pace only expected to increase as the TFTF continues to build out its case pipeline.
