A law taking effect in Connecticut next week regarding tipped wages for cannabis employees comes as those workers' tips are often a focus of lawsuits, which attorneys attributed to the industry's rapid growth and regulatory quirks.

Carmen Francella III of management-side firm Blank Rome LLP said cannabis employers are already dealing with unique regulatory considerations beyond wage and hour requirements.
"It's putting pressure on the operators in an already tough industry right now, that's suffering to some degree, to make some harder decisions about how they pay their people," he said.
