Stephen Zumbrun, partner at Blank Rome LLP, has won a trial verdict in an environmental case, directed a review of groundwater protections that helped shape a Superfund cleanup plan, and served as the regulatory point of contact on a major pharmaceutical acquisition. Add to that a busy pro bono practice, and it's clear how he earned a spot among the environmental law practitioners under age 40 honored by Law360 as Rising Stars.
Proudest moment as an attorney:
Zumbrun's efforts as lead environmental trial counsel for a real estate developer were recognized in 2025 when Judge Michael Erdos of the Philadelphia County Court of Common Pleas not only awarded his client $2.2 million in damages and $1.2 million in attorney and expert fees, but wrote in the opinion that Zumbrun's team had done "a stellar job preparing and trying this sophisticated case, and with the utmost professionalism and skill" in "achieving [a] hard-fought and total victory."
That was a "proud moment," Zumbrun said, because it was the culmination of his long involvement with the client in several related matters.
