Blank Rome Maritime partner Dana S. Merkel will serve as keynote speaker at the North American Marine Environment Protection Association (“NAMEPA”) 2026 Safety at Sea Seminar and AMVER and Benkert Awards, being held Thursday, May 21, 2026, from 12:30 to 5:30 p.m., in Washington, D.C.
About the Program
NAMEPA’s 2026 Safety at Sea Seminar and AMVER and Benkert Awards, part of National Maritime Week, will feature critical discussions on maritime safety, risk mitigation, and industry best practices, along with the presentations of the United States Coast Guard’s (“USCG”) AMVER Awards recognizing the vessels and companies that demonstrate dedication to safety and rescue operations at sea and the Benkert Awards recognizing excellence in environmental protection.
Dana, a member of NAMEPA’s Board of Directors, will present the Opening Keynote, “Safety in an Era of Geopolitical Uncertainty,” at 10:10 a.m., immediately following Opening Remarks by Joe Hughes, Chairman of NAMEPA and Chairman of the Shipowner’s Claims Bureau.
