Blank Rome LLP is pleased to announce that Alexander J. Halaska has joined the firm’s Chicago office as an associate in the General Litigation group. Alex is the third associate to join the group this year, following Wesley A. Mann and Ashley F. Calcagno. He joins Blank Rome after clerking for the Honorable Beth W. Jantz of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois.
Alex focuses on complex civil litigation, particularly federal court proceedings, dispositive motions, discovery disputes, and appellate advocacy. He represents clients in federal district and appellate courts nationwide, including drafting and arguing key motions and oppositions involving injunctions, class certification, and contempt. Alex’s appellate work includes litigation strategy, briefing, and oral arguments before multiple U.S. Courts of Appeals.
Admitted to practice in Illinois, Alex received his J.D. magna cum laude, from Chicago-Kent College of Law, and his B.A. from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Earlier in his career, Alex held several roles at the U.S. Department of Justice, Civil Division, Office of Immigration Litigation, including Acting National Security Unit Chief/Assistant Director, senior litigation counsel, and trial attorney.
