The University of Arizona&nbsp;James E. Rogers&nbsp;College of Law has been working on developing&nbsp;the JD-Next exam as an alternative law school admissions test since 2019, and on Friday the Council of the American Bar Association’s Section of Legal Education and Admissions approved a variance for the law school to use the JD-Next exam for admission.

“The Law School Admissions Council (which administers the LSAT) has itself reported that the average score for white test-takers is 153, versus 146 and 142, for Hispanic and Black test-takers, respectively,” Craig M. Boise, dean of Syracuse University College of Law and&nbsp;Alan Feigenbaum, of counsel to Blank Rome, wrote in an&nbsp;<a href="https://www.law.com/newyorklawjournal/2023/03/09/the-time-is-now-eliminating-the-lsat-for-the-sake-of-diversity/">op-ed piece</a>&nbsp;published in the&nbsp;New York Law Journal&nbsp;in March.

“JD-Next measures not just the accumulated knowledge and skills that they would bring&nbsp;to&nbsp;a new academic program, but also their ability to grow and learn&nbsp;through&nbsp;the program,”&nbsp;they wrote.
