Blank Rome Named “Champion of Justice” for Pro Bono Fundraising Campaign by Texas Access to Justice CommissionSeptember 2017
Blank Rome has been named a “Champion of Justice” by the Texas Access to Justice Commission, for raising one of the largest amounts of money in the “medium-size” law firm category in the Champions of Justice Firm Competition, an annual statewide pro bono campaign that raises money to support legal services to the poor through grants distributed by the Texas Access to Justice Foundation and the Texas Bar Foundation. Blank Rome will be presented with this award by Texas Supreme Court Justice Eva Guzman during the Justice for All Reception on October 23.
This year’s “Justice for All” campaign focused on raising money to help families coping with medical problems. The contributions raised through the campaign will go to more than 30 nonprofit organizations, including volunteer lawyers programs, legal aid offices, law school clinics, local bar association projects, and family violence shelters, who will put the funds to work to help people in the local community with urgent needs. This honor and recognition on behalf of Blank Rome was made possible through the outstanding pro bono commitment, fundraising efforts, generosity, and support of the Firm’s Houston office, attorneys, and professionals, who continue to demonstrate tireless dedication to pro bono service. In June 2017, Blank Rome’s Houston office was recognized as “a model for pro bono legal services in the community” by Houston Volunteer Lawyers, earning Blank Rome’s recognition as an “Equal Access to Justice Champion” for the 2016-2017 bar year.
