Bankruptcy Institute 2023

Blank Rome associates Matthew E. Kaslow and Jordan Williams will serve as faculty for Pennsylvania Bar Institute’s (“PBI”) Bankruptcy Institute 2023 program, being held Friday, November 17, 2023, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:10 p.m. EST, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. There is also an option to attend virtually.

ABOUT THE PROGRAM

Bankruptcy Institute 2023 provides a day of bankruptcy programming that includes targeted instruction and updates for both commercial and consumer bankruptcy practitioners who practice in the Eastern and Middle Districts of Pennsylvania. Relevant and practical sessions will address the topics that are trending and shaping today’s bankruptcy practice.

ABOUT THE SESSIONS

Matt’s session, “Executory Contracts,” will take place during the first half of the program in the Commercial Bankruptcy portion of the program:

The panel will discuss the Countryman definition and the Functional Approach as adopted in certain jurisdictions as well as the Modern Contracts Theory advanced by Professor Jay Westbrook. They also review recent decisions addressing these topics and related issues, as well as particular applications in the context of certain business organization agreements.

Jordan will participate in “Shark Tank (Ethics),” which will close out the program’s Commercial Bankruptcy segment:

Embracing the American entrepreneurial spirit, the Sharks—judges of the regional Bankruptcy Courts—weigh in on what they determine to be the best pitch made by commercial bankruptcy attorneys in this Shark Tank-style competition.
