Chapter 17: Marine Resources

ABA Environment, Energy, and Resources Law: The Year in Review 2017

Blank Rome Of Counsel Joan M. Bondareff and Associate Noe S. Hamra were contributors to Chapter 17 “Marine Resources” for The Year in Review 2017, published by the American Bar Association’s Environment, Energy, and Resources Law section.

This chapter was prepared by the Marine Resources Committee, which deals with the diverse disciplines focused on the marine environment and its uses. The geographic scope of that focus embraces thousands of miles of national coastline, internal and territorial waters, and Exclusive Economic Zones, as well as estuarine, outer continental shelf, and international waters. Issues range from the development, management, and protection of these waters and their resources to jurisdiction and management over United States flagged vessels across the world’s oceans. The 2017 review discusses the more significant events during 2017 across the full spectrum of the Committee’s responsibilities.
