Administration and Congressional Leadership Tracker

President-elect Donald Trump has quickly begun to announce who he plans to nominate to serve in his Cabinet and other key senior staff positions for his upcoming term. Many of our sources and contacts indicate that loyalty to the president-elect is a top consideration of his administration when it comes to picking his Cabinet and White House roles. Although some of his picks have been met with skepticism, others have been largely viewed as reasonable and non-controversial. Most of the nominees are expected to have a relatively easy confirmation process due to Republicans having a 53-47 majority for control of the Senate. Still, it is possible that some of the more controversial nominees will withdraw or even fail to get confirmed if they are not able to overcome potential hurdles and muster the amount of support needed in the Senate.

Republicans have a majority in both the House and Senate and have started picking their party’s leaders. Leadership on the House side will remain more or less the same since Republicans had the majority in the 118th Congress, but on the Senate side we will be seeing some new faces in leadership. Some are concerned about President-elect Trump selecting too many lawmakers from the House for his Cabinet due to Republicans having a very slim majority in that body. Special elections will be held during 2025 (on dates directed by State law) to fill the seats of those House Members leaving to serve the new Administration.

Below are the people President-elect Trump has named to be nominated to his incoming Cabinet and administration as well as the lawmakers who will have leadership positions in the 119th Congress. We will continue to update this list weekly as developments occur.
