William L. Purtell

Biography

William represents mortgage lenders in all aspects of trial and appellate litigation, both residential and commercial.

As a member of the consumer financial services team, William regularly represents lenders and financial institutions in a variety of consumer finance litigation matters, including disputes under TILA, RESPA, FCRA, ECOA, FDCPA, state law UDAP claims, and a variety of common law claims.

Outside the Firm

William lives in Northern Kentucky with his wife and six children. In addition to practicing law, William has taught high school Latin, was a martial arts instructor in Japanese karate, and is a Cincinnati Bengals fan. He currently enjoys playing complex board games with his kids.

Professional Activities

Active in his community, William is a participant of the Cincinnati Legal Aid Society’s Volunteer Lawyers Project, helping to meet the growing need for legal services for local low-income families and individuals. He is also involved in the Kentucky Bar Association’s C.A.R.E. in Kentucky program. William currently serves on the advisory board of the Covington Latin School, where he earned the Young Alumnus of the Year in 2014.

William is a regular speaker on topics such as foreclosure best practices, regulatory compliance, and legal ethics for financial institutions, bar associations, and legal education seminars.
