Terence Liao

Biography

Terence Liao is a litigation associate in the firm’s Orange County office. He concentrates his practice on labor and employment and commercial litigation matters.

Terence represents clients ranging from small businesses to Fortune 500 companies in a wide range of workplace-related disputes. His practice includes defending employers in single-plaintiff and multi-plaintiff matters involving claims of wrongful termination, discrimination, harassment, retaliation, and wage and hour violations, including PAGA and class actions, in both state and federal courts.

Terence also has experience handling high-stakes commercial and business litigation matters, including partnership and ownership disputes, commercial contract disputes, and related business tort claims.

Alongside his litigation work, Terence advises clients on employment policies, regulatory compliance, and day-to-day employee relations, providing practical, business-focused guidance.

Prior to joining the firm, Terence practiced at an international labor and employment law firm and served as a law clerk at a law firm in Taipei where he reviewed English-language contracts for technology-sector clients and assisted with arbitration matters.

Experience

  • Obtained complete summary judgment for a global electronics manufacturer in a high-stakes commercial contract dispute.
  • Secured a judgment for a construction company following a bench trial, defeating all of the plaintiff’s wrongful termination and wage-and-hour claims, and prevailing on the company’s crossclaims for fraud, breach of fiduciary duty, and unfair competition.
  • Prevailed on multiple summary judgment and summary adjudication motions in wrongful termination actions alleging disability, age, and race discrimination, whistleblower retaliation, and hostile work environment harassment.
  • Obtained dismissal on demurrer in employment, product liability, and business tort actions.
