Saminaz Akhter

Biography

Saminaz Akhter focuses her practice on corporate and securities law, with an emphasis on acquisition and divestiture transactions in a variety of industries. She has also represented corporations in connection with commercial contracts, stockholder agreements, employment agreements, and other contracts. In addition to M&A work, Saminaz has represented sponsors in connection with the formation of private equity funds and counseled clients regarding compliance with the Investment Advisers Act of 1940.

Outside the Firm

Saminaz is active in local community efforts in the U Street/Shaw neighborhood of Washington, D.C., where she lives with her family, including promoting that neighborhood’s historical significance to African-American and national history.

Saminaz is a Washington, D.C. City Lead for the Leadership Council on Legal Diversity (“LCLD”), was a 2015 LCLD Fellow, and is active in the firm’s diversity outreach efforts. During law school, she was the articles selection editor of the Georgetown Immigration Law Journal.
