Roland F. Rivera Santiago

Biography

Roland F. Rivera Santiago represents clients across diverse industries including pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, agriculture, and commerce. His practice spans patent prosecution, litigation, trademark and copyright law, and trade secret protection. He has extensive experience managing complex patent portfolios, conducting freedom-to-operate and due diligence analyses, and contributing to high-stakes litigation and expert reports. Roland also performs and oversees work on both foreign and domestic trademark and copyright applications.

Prior to joining Blank Rome, Roland served as an associate attorney at three intellectual property law firms.

While in law school, he served as an extern for the Honorable Analisa Torres at the U.S. Department of Justice, Southern District of New York.

Roland holds his Ph.D. in Biochemistry from the University of Pennsylvania.

Experience

  • Conducted international and domestic patent and trademark prosecution for a family-owned company.
  • Conducted freedom-to-operate analysis for an international pharmaceutical company seeking to enter the U.S. market with a novel combination drug therapy.
  • Conducted a due diligence inquiry for a medical device company, in the furtherance of a potential sale of substantially all of the company’s assets to a public company.
