Pelayo Coll maintains a national practice counseling clients in all facets of real estate transactions. He focuses on assisting clients in sales and acquisitions, financings, leasing, and entity structuring and restructuring for many types of projects including:

  • office and industrial buildings
  • residential and mixed use projects
  • healthcare facilities
  • retail developments
  • automobile and other specialty uses

Pelayo has particular expertise and substantial experience in the acquisition, financing and disposition of multifamily properties including large multi- site transactions, and has been involved in a number of the largest asset transactions over the last few years.

Pelayo is fluent in Spanish.

    Outside the Firm

    Pelayo has been involved in numerous civic and community groups in Philadelphia, particularly those serving the Latino community. Pelayo is the Vice-Chair (and a past Chair) of the Board of Directors of Asociación Puertorriqueños en Marcha, Inc. (“APM”), which is one of Philadelphia’s leading Latino-based health, human services, community, and economic development nonprofit organizations helping Philadelphia-area families achieve their full potential in life. APM has been listed as one of the 25 largest Latino nonprofits in the United States. He also serves on the board of directors of the Pan-American Association of Philadelphia, which is an all-volunteer, non-partisan, nonprofit organization that seeks to “promote cultural, educational and economic activities designed to increase understanding and cooperation among the peoples of the Americas.”

    Pelayo is the father of three and that takes up all of his free time.

    • A large national bank, in restructuring various loans.
    • A large national senior housing developer, in acquisitions and financing of senior care facilities in Florida, Maryland, and Pennsylvania.
    • A publicly traded finance company, with particular focus on healthcare-related financing transactions.
    • A publicly traded real estate investment trust, in its repositioning and redevelopment of a Center City Philadelphia mall.
    • A joint venture sponsored by George Comfort & Sons, Inc., in the acquisition, financing and ultimate disposition of the iconic Worldwide Plaza, a 47-story Class A building in New York City.

    Professional Activities

    Pelayo was appointed by Mayor Michael Nutter to the Mayor’s Task Force on Tax Policy & Economic Competitiveness in 2009.
