Nelson Monterrosa concentrates his practice on a wide variety of intellectual property issues, including patent drafting, patent prosecution, and patent portfolio management. Nelson represents foreign and domestic clients in a variety of fields, including semiconductors, telecommunications (including compliance with various 3GPP standards), consumer electronics, manufacturing, automotive, artificial intelligence, machine learning and Internet of Things technologies, cryptographic currency applications, oilfield applications, optics technologies, and power distribution systems.
Nelson has worked writing briefs for submission before the Patent Trial and Appeals Board (“PTAB”) in various AIA Trial Proceedings for the areas of Data Signal Processing (“DSP”) solutions, LTE/5G networking applications for mobile/smartphones, and camera and location systems for motor vehicles. He has handled patent applications in Europe, India, China, Mexico, and Australia.
Prior to joining Blank Rome, Nelson served as a patent agent and patent engineer at a full-service intellectual property law firm, as well as an operations engineer at a multinational power management company.
Nelson earned his B.S. in Electrical Engineering, with a concentration on power distribution systems and optics, from the University of Florida.
