Negar M. Kordestani

Biography

Negar Kordestani concentrates her practice in complex commercial litigation and white collar defense matters.  She has experience counseling clients on a wide range of business issues with respect to breach of contract, fraud, and business torts, as well as litigation arising from the enforcement and defense of non-compete and non-solicitation agreements.

She also represents both corporations and individuals in criminal enforcement actions and related internal investigations.  

While in law school, Negar was an associate editor of the Villanova Law Review. She served as an extern for the Honorable Juan R. Sánchez of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania and as an intern in the United States Department of Justice, Criminal Division.

Negar serves as a member of the Firm’s D.C. Attorney Recruiting and Retention Committee.  She is a native Farsi speaker and also speaks Spanish.

Outside the Firm

Negar enjoys learning new languages, and traveling to interesting places across the world.

Experience

  • Representation of major institutional lender in commercial foreclosure to enforce rights under real property mortgage and secured summary judgment and $156 million judgment in rem award against defendants.
  • Part of joint defense team which secured summary judgment for clients on all defamation and related claims. 
  • Assisted in successfully obtaining injunctions against former employees who were in violation of employers’ restrictive covenant agreements.
  • Assisted in successfully obtaining an injunction against a former senior sales executive at a major medical device manufacturer, which enforced the terms of a non-compete.
  • Assisted in successfully obtaining dismissal of class allegations in food labeling litigation during class certification briefing.
  • Representation of a major medical device manufacturer against a former employee and competing business in action involving enforcement and defense of restrictive covenants and trade secret misappropriation.
  • Representation of a financial institution in connection with a federal grand jury investigation.
  • Representation of small businesses in federal grand jury investigations.
  • Representation of pro bono clients in various matters, including: clemency petition; parole revocation; breach of contract case; and deceptive trade practices action.  Secured a $55,000 settlement for clients to resolve breach of contract and deceptive trade practices case referred through the Legal Counsel for the Elderly.

Professional Activities

Negar is a member of the Columbia DC Young Alumni Association and is also a Class of 2014 Advisor to the NovUS Chapter of the Villanova Law Alumni Association. In 2017, Negar was elected to serve on the Young Lawyers Division Executive Committee of the Philadelphia Bar Association for a three-year term. In 2019, she was selected to join the Leadership Council on Legal Diversity Pathfinder Program.
